A former hotel on Jeju Island has been transformed into a luxury wellness resort combining five-star hospitality with curated leisure, wellness, retail, and cultural experiences. The brief called for a full renovation and sensitive extension that would embed the architecture in the island’s unique natural and cultural setting. Surrounded by waterfalls, forests, volcanic cliffs and rooted in Tamna heritage, the design was shaped by a strong narrative of place, nature and experience. The scheme was selected through an invited competition.

The extension is carefully embedded into the hillside, preserving the original hotel’s open terraces and lawn while strengthening its connection to the surrounding landscape. Curving in an organic form around the slope, the new structure avoids blocking existing views, offering uninterrupted outlooks to ocean and forest. Every element of the design works with the contours of the site - ensuring harmony between architecture, ecology, and guest experience.

Wellness Experience

The design of the wellness area blends the interior and exterior into one seamless sensorial experience. The pool places an emphasis on a holistic wellness experience for mind, body & soul.

Final Expression

Designed to feel as though it belongs to the land, the resort captures the quiet drama of Jeju's coastline - anchored by form, material and atmosphere.
